Cooking Quinoa over a stovetop is a straightforward process! (Quinoa is cooked with a water ratio of 1:2)
Serves 2-4 / 5 Minute Prep Time / 15 Minute Cook Time
Ingredients
- 1 cup Quinoa
- 2 cups Water
- Salt
Directions
- Add water to a saucepan or pot and place it on stovetop burner. Turn the heat for the burner on high.
- Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve or a fine colander.
- Rinse the quinoa under cold running water, either rubbing the seeds gently with your hands, or using the spray function on your faucet.
- Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.
- Wait until the water has mostly drained out and then add the Quinoa to the saucepan or pot.
- Add Salt to taste.
- Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan or pot with a lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Avoid stirring the quinoa while it's cooking to prevent it from becoming mushy.
- Fluff and let it rest: Once the quinoa is cooked and the liquid is absorbed, remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the quinoa sit, covered, for about 5 minutes. Then, uncover the saucepan and fluff the quinoa with a fork.
- Add seasonings as desired or use Quinoa in other dishes.
- and Enjoy!
