How to Cook Qunioa on Stovetops

Cooking Quinoa over a stovetop is a straightforward process! (Quinoa is cooked with a water ratio of 1:2)

Serves 2-4  /  Minute Prep Time  /  15 Minute Cook Time

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Quinoa
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Add water to a saucepan or pot and place it on stovetop burner. Turn the heat for the burner on high.
  2. Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh sieve or a fine colander.
  3. Rinse the quinoa under cold running water, either rubbing the seeds gently with your hands, or using the spray function on your faucet.
  4. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.
  5. Wait until the water has mostly drained out and then add the Quinoa to the saucepan or pot.
  6. Add Salt to taste.
  7. Once it reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan or pot with a lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Avoid stirring the quinoa while it's cooking to prevent it from becoming mushy.
  8. Fluff and let it rest: Once the quinoa is cooked and the liquid is absorbed, remove the saucepan from the heat. Let the quinoa sit, covered, for about 5 minutes. Then, uncover the saucepan and fluff the quinoa with a fork.
  9. Add seasonings as desired or use Quinoa in other dishes.
  10. and Enjoy!
